Community Lottery celebrates its seven-year anniversary
16 October 2025
Over 60 local causes are being supported by the Charnwood Community Lottery as it celebrates its seventh anniversary.
Charnwood Borough Council launched the community lottery in 2018 and since then, over £145,000 has been raised to support community groups in the borough.
Each ticket costs £1 and players have the chance of winning up to £25,000 every week.
So far, over £35,000 has been won by supporters over the past seven years.
Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s lead member for communities and neighbourhoods, said: “Over the past seven years, the Charnwood Community Lottery has been a great way of supporting lots of local causes across the borough.
“The funding, which organisations receive through the lottery, is hugely important to them and with every ticket bought, residents have the chance to win themselves whilst also helping out local causes.”
There are 65 good causes that have signed up to the Lottery that can be supported through purchasing tickets. They include: Anstey Community Library, Living Without Abuse and Loughborough Leggo Youth Group.
Just last month, two players each won £250. Their weekly tickets support two local causes, 1st Nanpantan Scout Group and The Bridge (East Midlands) helping both to reach over £400 in their fundraising this year.
Since its creation, the Charnwood Community Lottery has seen:
Five tickets win £2,500
58 tickets win £250
451 tickets win £25
And over 4,500 tickets win a free draw!
When a player chooses to support one of the registered good causes, the organisation will receive a 50 pence donation, with 10 pence going towards a central community fund.
Charnwood Community Lottery is completely free for causes across the borough to sign up for.
